Documentation support
Written programs
that reflect your work.
CMS helps contractors prepare and update safety manuals and written programs for compliance-platform documentation. The starting point is your company’s actual operations and the written requirements you need to address.
For missing, outdated or requested programs
You may need an individual written program, revisions following a document review or a broader manual. CMS can discuss the appropriate documentation scope rather than assuming every contractor needs the same set of policies.
What CMS handles
- Review of requested program topics and existing documents.
- Preparation or revision of written safety-program documentation.
- Organization of individual programs into a usable manual.
- Support for document submission and review comments within the agreed scope.
Examples of available program topics
CMS offers written-program topics including hazard communication, fall protection, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, emergency action plans and other written-program topics. CMS confirms the topics appropriate to your operations before preparing documentation.
From a requested topic to a usable document
Identify the topic and the reason for the request
Tell CMS whether a platform returned a program with comments, a customer requested a new topic or your existing manual no longer reflects your work.
Describe your actual operations
Your company provides the activities, equipment and practices the document must describe. CMS discusses whether an individual program, revision or broader manual is appropriate.
Review the draft with the right person
Have a qualified person check the program against your operations and applicable requirements. Authorize changes and do not adopt procedures solely to satisfy an upload request.
Implement and keep it current
CMS supports the agreed documentation and submission work. Your company implements the procedures, trains workers and reviews the program when circumstances change.
A manual is a document, not a substitute for practice
Written programs must be reviewed for the work your company performs. Platform acceptance does not establish that a workplace meets every applicable requirement. CMS documentation services do not replace site-specific assessments, professional engineering, legal advice or required worker training.
Your side of the partnership
What remains your responsibility
- Describe your work, equipment and relevant hazards accurately.
- Have a qualified person review programs for your operations and applicable requirements.
- Implement procedures, train employees and maintain actual workplace controls.
- Keep programs updated when your work or requirements change.

A listed topic is a starting point for discussion. Programs need to match your actual work and responsibilities; written documentation does not replace implementation or worker training.
Discuss my program requirementsStraight answers
A few good questions.
Not sure where your account stands? Start with a conversation.
Speak with CMSCan I request a single written program?
Yes. CMS offers individual written-program topics. Contact CMS with the topic and the platform’s written request to discuss the scope and pricing.
Will a manual guarantee platform approval?
No. Review outcomes depend on the documentation, your company’s information and the reviewer’s criteria. A manual also does not guarantee regulatory compliance or jobsite access.
What information do you need to start?
Tell CMS what work you perform, whether you have an existing manual and which programs have been requested. Sensitive records should be shared only through a separately agreed secure method.
